16-19 additional funding
Statement of Intent
Upon receipt of the additional funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) City of Portsmouth College will support the 16-19 learners that experienced disruption to their learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). City of Portsmouth College will also have regard to the needs of students with special education needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly where they have experienced additional disruption to learning as a result of their specific needs and disabilities. The additional funding will support:
- Learners aged 16-19 on a fulltime Study Programme who have not achieved a grade 4 or 5 in maths and / or English
- Learners aged 16-19 on a fulltime Study Programme who have a grade 4 or above in maths and / or English and are from an economically disadvantaged background. (These are defined as students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country based on the index of multiple deprivation).
Learners will receive a variety of timetabled/drop in sessions additional to their study programme. Activities will facilitate the individual requirements of each learner and methods will include coaching, small group tutorial and teaching sessions. Additional on-line resources will be further developed to build knowledge, and application of skills. All staff allocated to teach and support this initiative will have the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience.
All teaching /coaching activities will provide learners with the confidence and skills to fulfil their aspirations for learning, employment and independence.
