Level 2 Transition to Health

For students aged 16-19 who wish to study a T Level, but need to complete a foundation year first. This course is ideal to progress onto the T Level after the first year, and is specifically designed to develop the skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support progression in your studies.

The Level 2 programme is a great way to advance into healthcare/ early years related Level 3 programmes, including the Health and Early Years & Education T Level, here at City of Portsmouth College. It’s perfect for anyone interested in careers within the health and early years sector.

This course includes time spent in the workplace, enabling you to apply your studies in a range of suitable settings, improving your knowledge and developing key employment skills.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including maths, English and science.

This course is full-time for one year and you are required to complete a minimum of 36 hours in a work placement setting.

You will learn in an informative and interactive way with classroom study, paired with online and face to-face support.  Your class work will be continuously assessed. You will also need to complete work experience in a health and social care/ early years setting, where you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills that you have learned in the classroom under the supervision of expert practitioners and teachers, who will also assess your capabilities. Most learners will achieve more hours enhancing future employability prospects.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

You can continue on to the Level 3 T Level, progress into an apprenticeship or find employment in the sector.
