Level 3 Certificate in Health & Social Care

This programme is an ideal progression route from Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care and gives you the support to build your knowledge and understanding of the health and care sector.

Units include:

  • equality, diversity and rights
  • human growth and development
  • safeguarding and protection
  • communication
  • infection prevention and control
  • psychological perspectives
  • sociological perspectives
  • working in health and social care.

You will spend time in a variety of health and social care settings and gain experience with a range of age groups and abilities. You will have an opportunity to run projects involving the local community, building your skills and knowledge of local care services. You could take part in a residential trip such as Disneyland Paris, alongside other excursions, which include the simulation suite at the University of Portsmouth. You will also be encouraged to participate in National Health Service and charitable campaigns raising awareness amongst fellow students.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English.

You will attend College full time for one year.

You will need to complete an assignment for the majority of units, which will be assessed and graded. You will regularly review your work with your tutor and receive feedback on your progress.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

You could progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care.
