The CTEC Level 3 Business course equips aspiring business professionals with a comprehensive understanding of core business principles and practical skills. It prepares students for successful careers in various business sectors or further education in business-related fields. The course caters to students seeking a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, nurturing well-rounded individuals with the potential to excel in the dynamic world of business. The course provides an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest trends and developments in the business sector.

You will gain a thorough understanding of the following key knowledge and skills:

  • core business functions, including marketing, finance, human resources, operations, and their interrelationships
  • human resource management, involving understand recruitment, selection, performance management, and employee relations
  • communication skills, through communicate effectively through written reports, presentations, and professional interactions
  • problem-solving, by applying critical thinking to analyse business challenges, identify solutions, and make informed decisions.

Through the course, you will develop key behaviours and attitudes such as; professionalism, through punctuality, meeting deadlines, dressing appropriately, and maintaining a positive work ethic. Organisation, through effective time management, prioritising tasks, and managing workloads efficiently. Adaptability, through learning new technologies, adjusting to changing business environments, and being flexible in your approach. Interpersonal skills, through developing confidence in working with others, presenting, and delivering customer service. Communication Skills, through developing verbal and non verbal communication methods, use and creation of business documentation to industry standards, including the development of digital skills through proficiency in using relevant business software and applications.

You can take part in the Enterprise Academy, Unloc, which supports business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills. You will also be supported to set up your own personal enterprise or business.

This course can be combined with additional A Levels or a Sixth Form vocational course.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and English Language.

You are expected to attend all timetabled sessions, including tutorial. You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.

Assessments will comprise of 60% coursework, including role play and presentation, and 40% externally set written exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

Successful graduates of the CTEC Level 3 Business course have multiple progression options.

You could progress to study in further or higher education, for exmaple, pursuing a university degree in Business Management, International, Digital Marketing, Business Finance, Human Resources or related fields.

You could progress to a higher apprenticeship, or gain direct entry into careers, including retail, human resources, finance and marketing, in various business sectors, potentially starting in roles such as a marketing assistant, business analyst, or operations assistant.
