This VRQ offers an ideal step for those who are employed, and wish to continue with their studies, as the knowledge at Level 3 meets that of the related VCQ.
This qualification is designed to provide a standardised approach for the delivery and assessment of the knowledge and skills requirements. This VRQ also provides the knowledge requirements for the Level 2 IMI in MOT Testing (Classes 4 & 7) or the Level 3 IMI Award in MOT Test Centre Management.
Units include:
- Diagnosing and Rectification of Automotive Auxiliary Electrical Faults
- Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Engine Faults
- Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Chassis Unit Faults
- Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults
- Health & Safety.
Must have completed a full Level 2 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Technology or equivalent.
This is a one-year part-time evening course.
The assessment of is made up of three components, which are set by IMI including practical tasks, online testing and written assignment/coursework. All work carried out on the IMI e-portolio.
Students can progress on to the Level 2 IMI in MOT Testing (Classes 4 & 7) or the Level 4 Master Technician in Motor Vehicle Technology course.
